Coulanges-la-Vineuse is a typically Burgundian village where walks, escape and calm are the key words.
For the sportsmen, you will be able to benefit from the paths of excursions, the circuits VTT and the channel of Nivernais to 4 km with hiring of boats, kayak and paddle.

Oenological discovery – From the village

In all the surrounding villages, monuments, streets and vaulted cellars bear witness to the long history of winegrowing in the Pays Coulangeois.
Nowadays, about forty families of wine growers exploit about 300 hectares of vineyards located on the right bank of the Yonne (Irancy) or on the left bank (Escolives, Jussy, Migé and especially Coulanges-la-Vineuse).

Hiking – From the village

In the Pays Coulangeois, 20 circuits (from 4 to 18 km) offer 200 km of hiking. They are connected with the G.R.13 and are mostly composed of rural roads or farm roads, but very few paved roads (roads, municipal roads…). Several circuits leave from Coulanges-la-Vineuse or pass through the village.


Mountain biking – From the village

The mountain bike site of the Pays Coulangeois (labelled FFC) is the first of the department. The mountain biker will be able to taste the charms of the undulating plateaus and the strongly encased valleys. In total, there are 123 km of marked circuits, with 6 circuits of all difficulties over distances ranging from 6 to 50 km! The starting point of the circuits is in Vincelles. 1 circuit passes in front of the location.

 

Canal du Nivernais – 5 minutes by car

The Nivernais canal links Decize (Nièvre) to Auxerre (Yonne). You can reach it at Vincelles (4 km). Today it is exclusively reserved for pleasure boating, and many boaters consider it to be one of the most beautiful canals in Europe. On foot, by boat or by bike, you will find a romantic and mysterious charm to this canal…

 

Archaeological site of Escolives – 5 minutes by car

The Gallo-Roman site of Escolives is located on the ancient Roman road called Agrippa. It was occupied throughout the Gallo-Roman period. During this period, the buildings form a vast villa (known from excavations).  However, the site of Escolives is recognized as being of national interest for another reason: sculpted blocks have been found in the foundation of the thermal baths of the 4th century villa.

 

Auxerre – 15 minutes by car

In Auxerre, dive into centuries of history. Discover the imposing Clock Tower and its pedestrian district. Let yourself be charmed by the beautiful half-timbered houses, the private mansions… Visit also the Saint-Etienne cathedral and the Saint-Germain abbey with its Carolingian crypts. Majestic, the latter overlooks the Yonne and its quays, a new dynamic point of the city.

Noyers-sur-Serein knows how to surprise its visitors. Toucy and his market – 30 minutes by car

Toucy is a dynamic city animated by its picturesque Saturday morning market, labeled “Saveurs et Savoir-faire de Bourgogne”. Its summer aperitif-concerts, its jazz festival in July, its exhibition galleries, its fairs and its tourist train. Elected most beautiful market in Burgundy in 2018!

 

Vézelay – 40 minutes by car

High place of Christianity at the gates of the Morvan, Vézelay is also a charming perched village classified as a Unesco World Heritage Site. The climb to the basilica is an almost initiatory experience. Over the centuries, artists and writers have found inspiration here. Guédelon– 40 minutes by car

The most visited site in Burgundy! In the heart of the forest of Guédelon, in Puisaye, they have found a wild site, an old wooded quarry, a landscape of the year 1000, to build a castle in the respect of the techniques of the 13th century. For thrill seekers, the Morvan is full of white water activities such as kayaking and rafting.

Ideal starting point of the road of the Grands Crus which stretches along the Côte de Nuits, the capital of the old duchy of Burgundy holds you irresistibly. From stores to gardens, from terraces to museums and monuments… What if Dijon was first and foremost a “beautiful city”?

 

Paris – 2 h 00 by car or by train

Paris is only 2 hours (180 km) away from us, stopwatch in hand. The house is located at 4 km from the station of Vincelles. Trains can take you to Paris (Bercy station) without changing. By car, Paris is 2 hours away, including 1 hour 30 minutes on the freeway.
